What do expats think about living in Setubal ?

Here you have two testimonials of Rô and Jane. Later on, you will find other experiences shared in our website.

"Home is where I lay my hat".

"I,ve always had a dream of living in a place close to the sea, beaches and with lots of sun. Three years ago I started looking for this place and following the suggestion of a friend I came to Portugal. For my private/financial means Lisbon was out of question, so I came to have a look at Setúbal, which until then I had not even heard of and fell in love with it. Not only it's very close to Lisbon but it has charm, it's not hectic and it allows one to fully immerse into typical daily Portuguese life. And best of all it's affordable to live. I love the entire region, Serra da Arrábida with its magnificent seaviews, wineries, cheese, excellent food for affordable prices. There is that old saying " Home is where I lay my hat"... Well, my hat is happily laid in Setúbal.

We love exploring the area and other parts of this beautiful country.

Hi! I'm Jane and am a retired Languages teacher from England. I worked in Liverpool and Plymouth before retiring to Portugal with my husband in 2015. We originally lived on the Silver Coast but moved to Brejos de Azeitão last year and love it here. My husband has joined a local band and enjoys cycling and growing vegetables. We both belong to the Senior University and I am part of the French group. I enjoy their days out and hope that they will be able to start again soon. I enjoy gardening and sewing. We have brought a library of books with us and love reading in the garden. We have made friends of various nationalities and are making good progress with Portuguese. We also love exploring the area and other parts of this beautiful country.
